The choice of appropriate width of waterstop is mainly governed by slab thickness, position of reinforcement and aggregate size. As a general rule the 250mm width selections are appropriate for slab thickness of 250mm and over, allowing good compaction and width of barrier to water penetration. For slabs less than 250mm thickness the use of a smaller section approximating to the slab thickness will be appropriate.
Whenever possible, use the same width of waterbar throughout and employ standard intersection pieces, this will simplify installation and site joining. keep joint details as straight forward as possible, avoiding acute angle joint intersections which may prove difficult to fabricate, shutter and cast successfully where necessary, factory made fabrication can be supplied to simplify assembly of the complete waterstop network.
